Welcome! United Way of Southern Chester County is celebrating 63 years of serving our southern Chester County community. We are the largest and most effective fundraiser for health and human services in our area. Through the generosity of our donors, we will be investing over $1.2 million this year in programs improving the lives of neighbors in need. To see where we are investing your donations in the community, click on this link to How Your Donations Are Spent.

We fund established programs in five Strategic Focus Areas:

  • Basic Needs/Crisis Intervention
  • Nurturing Children and Youth
  • Improving Healthy Living
  • Enriching the Lives of Our Seniors
  • Strengthening Families

We also create programs where there are gaps in human services. In 2006, we held focus groups throughout southern Chester County to determine the most urgent unmet community needs—those needs that weren't being addressed through any current non-profit program. This local research helped us formulate our agenda for developing our own innovative programs to address these unmet needs. Our first pilot program, the Oxford Health Care Transportation Initiative, commenced in April of 2007. It provides free transportation to health care at out-of-area medical and dental clinics for low-income Oxford area residents.

United Way draws on the resources of the entire community, both human and financial, to support programs in our area. Each of our partner agencies relies on volunteers to help provide these critically needed services. The 2007-2008 campaign goal for the United Way of Southern Chester County is $1,300,000. With your help, we can achieve that level of fundraising and use it to support vital local human service programs. Your donations make a healthy southern Chester County available for all its residents. If you wish to make YOUR donation to support your community now, you can donate on-line or mail your gift to our address above.
