United Way of Southern Chester County is committed to promoting equity, creating opportunity, and improving lives in Southern Chester County. We do this by developing programs and supporting agencies that are focused on strengthening families, funding access to healthcare, providing reliable, affordable access to housing and food, and providing educational opportunities that transition community members to security and independence.
We respect and value all people and celebrate our diversity in race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin or citizenship status, age and ability status. We will hold ourselves and our partner organizations, grantees, staff, volunteers, board members, vendors, and key collaborators to account for demonstrating that respect in all of our actions.
United Way is committed to pursuing a more just, fair, and equitable society without institutional and structural racism. We recognize systemic change is a long term, continuous process. We will seek to build and create understanding about the importance of equity and inclusion and will take the lead on the difficult, continuing discussions that are needed to reach and maintain that understanding. We will be a leader in the fight for equity and strive to create communities where everyone has the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive.
OUR IMPACT
We will seek to employ evidence-based approaches to address complex community needs and identify systemic racism and other barriers to equity and opportunity. We recognize the particular challenges faced by our evolving immigrant community.
By listening inclusively, actively and gathering data about the challenges facing those in our region, we will seek to craft evidenced-based solutions that will provide an equitable outcome for the communities we serve now and in the future.
We identify the unmet needs in our area and mobilize the caring power of our community to effectively address those needs through our partner agencies or the creation of new programs.
We are committed to an allocation process that ensures responsible community investment and the funding of programs to promote a more equitable community.
In our unique allocation process, we utilize a diverse volunteer panel to be inclusive in our decision making and prioritize crisis intervention, promoting family stability and health, and education for all ages.
